Gutter Cleaning in Delta & Metro Vancouver

Gutters matter more here than almost anywhere else in Canada. Metro Vancouver gets well over a metre of rain a year, and most of it arrives between October and March. A blocked gutter in that window doesn't just overflow — it sends water down the wall, behind the fascia, and into the soffit, and the repair costs many times what the cleaning would have.

We clear gutters by hand rather than blowing them out, because blowing debris around doesn't clear the packed sludge at the bottom of the trough or the compacted mat sitting in the downspout elbow. Everything comes out, gets bagged, and leaves with us. Then every downspout gets flushed and watched to confirm it actually runs clear.

Before
After

What's included

  • Every trough cleared out, either vacuumed with our commercial-grade gutter vacuum or by hand
  • Debris emptied into your organic bin, not left on the lawn
  • Every downspout flushed and tested for flow
  • GoPro footage from the pole, so you see the before and after yourself
  • Photos of anything that needs your attention

Roof valley clearing and washing the outside face of the gutters are separate jobs rather than part of a standard clean. Both are quick to add on if you want them — just ask when you book.

How often, and why it varies

Under conifers: two to three times a year

Fir, cedar and pine drop needles continuously rather than in one autumn burst, and needles pack far tighter than leaves. If your house sits under heavy tree cover, or you have several conifers close to the roofline, expect to need spring and autumn visits, and a third in between if the trees are right on top of you.

Under deciduous trees: once to twice a year

Maple, alder and cottonwood finish dropping by mid-November. One clean after that is usually enough for the winter. Plenty of people book twice a year anyway, for the peace of mind of never having to wonder whether the gutters are holding water.

Open lots with no overhang: once a year

Even with no trees, gutters collect roof grit, moss and shingle granules that eventually block the downspout elbow. An annual clean keeps that from building into an overflow over the winter, and means someone has eyes on the roofline once a year.

We report what we find

Loose spikes, separated joints, rust perforation, missing downspout extensions — we photograph it and send it to you. We don't do gutter repairs, so there's nothing in it for us to invent problems.

The gutter cleaning job was well done! The cleaning process is so far the best I have seen in the field. No damage to the gutters, no dirty mess around the house. It's nice to have the before and after videos of the gutters!

Gutter Cleaning FAQ

How often should gutters be cleaned in Metro Vancouver?
Two to three times a year if you sit under heavy conifer cover, once or twice a year under deciduous trees, and once a year for open lots with no overhang. The rainy season here is long enough that going too far between cleans gets expensive.
What happens to the debris?
It goes into your organic bin. Gutter debris is leaves, needles and grit, which is exactly what that bin is for. We don't leave piles on the lawn or in the beds.
Do you flush the downspouts?
Every one, and we watch them run to confirm they're clear. A gutter that's clean but drains into a blocked elbow will still overflow.
Can you clean gutters on a three-storey house?
Always. Height and roof pitch don't change the answer, because we don't need to get on the roof. Our gutter vacuum reaches three storeys from the ground, with a GoPro on the pole so you can see the trough before and after.
Do you repair gutters?
No. We'll photograph anything that needs fixing and send it to you, but the repair itself is a job for a gutter contractor.
